The result of breeding work of the State Scientific Institution All-Russian Research Institute of Potato Farming. AG LORKHA – “Good luck” is the pride of the Russian selection of agricultural crops and is an early maturing variety of table potatoes adapted to various types of soil. Far Eastern, Volgo-Vyatka, North-West, Middle Volga and Central Black Earth – the most recommended territorial regions for the cultivation of this variety, but due to its high adaptability to various climatic conditions and good resistance to drought and heat, this potato is able to provide a guaranteed high yield (about 40 – 45 t / ha) and in other soil and climatic zones. The variety is resistant to waterlogging, wet and dry rot, cancer, scab, mosaic viruses, late blight of tubers, rhizoctonia, mechanical damage. Susceptible to golden potato nematode, Alternaria and late blight on tops. Shoots of potato tops Luck are of medium height, spreading, strongly leafy bush, with matte leaves of a dark green color. They are characterized by rare berry formation. The flowers are white, medium in size, the sepals are strongly curved downward. The light sprout is spherical with a red-violet base. The tubers of this potato are rather large, rounded-oval, slightly blunt in shape, and have a thin, cream-colored skin, smooth to the touch, covered with a few very small sprouts. The pulp of the tubers is white with a starch content of 12-14%. When using chloride and potassium fertilizers, darkening of the pulp was noticed during the cooking of tubers. Potato variety Luck has a good yield and allows you to collect from 10 to 15, and sometimes even up to 20 tubers weighing 100 – 150 grams from each healthy bush. The maximum yield of this variety, obtained during state tests, amounted to more than 45 tons of marketable potatoes per hectare, and the average 42 – 43 tons of selected potatoes also from each hectare of cultivated land. The growing season of this variety is from 80 to 90 days, but already with early harvesting, approximately on the 45th day after germination, it is possible to collect a completely full harvest – 18 – 20 tons per hectare. Potato Luck, thanks to its early maturity, high yield, natural soil plasticity, versatility of use, excellent marketability (88 – 97%) and excellent storage performance (84 – 96%), has won recognition among numerous professional farmers and amateur gardeners, becoming one of the best and most popular varieties of Russian selection. But this variety also has disadvantages. At tastings, potatoes Luck, due to its rather mediocre taste, is far from being the leader.
