Aurora, and among the common people “Krasnoglazka” is a medium-ripening potato variety (Solanum tuberosum). Bred by specialists of the Vsevolozhsk breeding station (Leningrad region, Kirovsk). Added to the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation in 2006. Zoned in nine regions of Russia: Far East, East Siberian, Middle Volga, North Caucasian, Central Black Earth, Volgo-Vyatka, Central, North and North-West. The period from germination to harvest is 70 – 90 days. Plants are semi-erect, leaf type, tall and very tall. Leaves are large, light green in color, intermediate type; the waviness of the edge is average. Corolla of red-violet color, large size. The tubers are medium in size, oval in shape, do not exceed 5 cm in diameter, 6 cm in length. The flesh is white. The peel is smooth, pinkish-brown in color (creamy in freshly dug tubers), red around the eyes. The eyes are small, superficial. Keeping quality – 94%. Aurora is characterized by resistance to the causative agent of potato cancer (pathotype 1) and the golden potato cyst nematode. The variety is moderately susceptible to late blight of tops and tubers. It adapts well to adverse weather conditions. Also, gardeners note resistance to scab. Resistance to macrosporiosis is weak.
