Radish ‘Zarya’ is a variety obtained by the All-Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Growing. Approved for use throughout the Russian Federation since 1971. The leaf is medium in size, green in color, medium dissected, slightly pubescent. Oval-shaped leafy lobules. Petioles are thin, medium in size. Size, shape and color: The root crop is round-flat or slightly round-oval, dark red, 3.9 cm long, 2.7 cm in diameter. The surface is smooth. The head is flat, delicate. The pulp is white, juicy. The root crop is completely submerged in the soil. The mass of radish when grown in the open field is 18–20 g, in protected – 6–7 g. Taste: The taste of radish is good and excellent, without bitterness. Ripening and productivity: Radish ‘Zarya’ refers to early ripening varieties. The period from full sprouting to the onset of technical ripeness in the open field is 27 days, in the protected field – 22–35 days. Marketable yield in the open field is 1.8 kg / m2, in the protected field – 2.0–3.7 kg / m2.
