A medicinal perennial bushy plant from the Labiaceae family. Stems are erect up to 45 cm in height. Leaves are green, ovate-lanceolate, pubescent below. Blooms in July-August. The flowers are small, light purple, collected in spike-shaped inflorescences. The whole plant is very aromatic. For medicinal purposes, leaves, essential oil, menthol are used. Grown by sowing in open ground and seedling. Sowing in open ground is carried out from April to June, for seedlings – in March. They are planted with a distance between plants of 20-30 cm, between rows 40-50 cm. Mint is removed for drying in the budding phase. Prefers moist places, loose loamy soils. Mint preparations in the form of mint drops, tincture, mint water, pure essential oil, and its derivatives are used for diseases of the respiratory tract, stomach, liver, neuralgia, spastic migraines, heart disorders, high blood pressure. Mint is added to tea and other drinks as a flavoring agent, and is also used in fruit salads.
