The plant is moisture-loving, young plants need to be watered regularly, then they grow well. Once flowering begins, there is no need for watering, excluding cases of severe drying out of the soil. It grows poorly on heavy damp soils. Reproduction. It blooms very profusely, the seeds are large, ripen well, remain viable for up to 3-4 years. Propagate nasturtium by sowing seeds in April – early May in open ground or in pots. In early April, you can sow seeds in pots (2 – 3 pieces each), shoots usually appear in a week. Seedlings are transplanted into open ground carefully, together with an earthen clod, trying not to damage the weak root system of the plants. The transplant takes place in May, after frost. When planting directly into open ground, 2-3 grains are placed in each hole, the holes are made at a distance of 15 cm from each other. Curly varieties of nasturtium need support. Reproduction by cuttings is possible. Cuttings root easily in water or wet sand. It is recommended to propagate new varieties by cuttings, primarily terry. The plant is left to winter in a pot on a bright cool window, it is watered very sparingly, and cuttings are prepared in the spring.
