Fruits are large, fusiform with a strongly lumpy surface, green when unripe and yellow-orange when ripe, 20-30 cm long, weighing 170-300 g. Productivity 3.6-4.2 kg / m2. The fruits contain up to 100 mg of vitamin C, vitamins B, B1, B2, phosphoric acid and calcium salts. Unripe fruits with bitter, but pleasant-tasting pulp are used for food in fresh, fried, salted and canned form. The fruits can be stored for 2-3 weeks. Momordica seeds are used for peptic ulcer disease, as well as a diuretic, anti-inflammatory and anti-febrile remedy. The leaves are applied to snakebite wounds. The plant is very decorative.
