Red clover is a perennial herb of the Clover genus, legume family. Up to 20-90 cm tall. Blossoming in June – July, fruiting in July – August. Has decorative, fodder value, clover is one of the most important melliferous plants in the northern and middle zones of the European part. Red clover blooms in June-July, about 30-35 days, sometimes again in September, which allows for autumn honey harvest, bees harvest 25-30 kg of honey from 1 hectare. Cold-resistant plant. Meadow clover has little heat demand. Seeds germinate at 2-3C. The optimum temperature for growth and development is 18-20C. Clover is sown at the same time as the cover crop or immediately after sowing across the rows. Clover is a shade-tolerant plant. Resistant to trampling and grazing, grows quickly. A soil-improving plant. Excellent winter hardiness. Good disease resistance. Relatively unpretentious to soils, grows better on sod-podzolic, gray forest and black earth.
