An evergreen coniferous tree 12-15 m high, 60-90 cm in diameter. Young plants have a narrow, pyramidal crown, becoming ovoid with age. Scaly leaves are bright green, up to 3-4 mm long. Grows well in nutrient-rich, sun and shade areas. Undemanding, tolerates dry soil and excessive moisture, but prefers sufficiently moist, fertile loams. It tolerates urban conditions, smoke and gas pollution well. Very hardy. When sowing in spring, seeds are stratified for a month or soaked for 12 hours in water, germination in wet sand is possible. It has a rot-resistant, soft and easily workable wood with a yellowish sapwood and a light brown core. From the leaves of this plant, essential oils are obtained, used in perfumery, as well as in medicine. Used for hedges, as separate plantings in gardens and parks. For hedges, plants are planted every 0.5 m.
