Description of the plant: Herbaceous plant with branched stems 25-40 cm long. Leaves are opposite, small, thick, oblong-wedge-shaped, succulent. Biological features: Purslane refers to light-loving plants. Loves loose, nutrient-rich warm sandy soils. Blossoms in May-June, bears fruit in June-July. Resistance to environmental conditions and diseases: Cold-resistant. Agrotechnical features: Propagated by seeds. They are sown in early spring (March – April) in a wide-row method, the row spacing is 45 cm. Sowing is repeated two or three times during the summer. Seedlings appear in 10-15 days. Productivity: 0.9-1.2 kg / m2. Qualitative characteristics: Juicy purslane greens have a pleasant aroma and a slightly pungent sour taste, giving a sensation of freshness. Young leaves and shoots of this culture are rich in easily digestible proteins, vitamins C, PP, E and carotene. And therefore, purslane salads are a great way to cure scurvy. Usage: In folk medicine, use the herb and seeds of the garden purslane. They have anti-inflammatory, diuretic, antiseptic, analgesic effects. Suitable for growing in pots on balconies and windowsills.
