Perennial herb from the Aster family up to 1 m high. It blooms in August-September. Inflorescences are large (up to 10-12 cm in diameter), purple in color. It grows well in sunny areas with fertilized soils, cultivated to a depth of 20 cm. Adult plants hibernate without shelter, it is advisable to cover young ones. Seeds are sown in May in open ground with subsequent thinning according to the scheme 40×50 cm. It blooms in the second year. Used for planting in groups, ridges, mixborders, for cutting.
