Magnificent inflorescences with a honey scent! Growing rapidly. In central Russia, it is a deciduous shrub (the aboveground part freezes almost completely). Each spring, new shoots grow to a length of 1.5-1.8 m. Leaves are lanceolate, up to 25 cm long. Flowers are collected in dense spike-shaped inflorescences up to 40 cm long. Blooms profusely in late summer and autumn for 30-45 days. They are used to create small groups (3-4 plants each) in combination with low shrubs: St. John’s wort, jasmine, blizzard, etc., as well as with ornamental herbaceous perennial plants. Agrotechnics. The plant is quite thermophilic, prefers a sunny place and nutritious, sufficiently moist soils. Propagated by seeds, which are sown in March – April in seedling boxes (seeds are not sprinkled). The landing container is covered with glass and placed in a lighted place. At a soil temperature of + 20-30 ° C, seedlings appear in 25-30 days. Planting in place is carried out at the end of May, maintaining a distance between plants of 30-40 cm. In autumn, after frosts, when the leaves turn black and sag, you need to cut off the shoots almost to ground level, and cover the soil under the roots with peat and cover it with a dry leaf. The seeds meet the requirements of international standards and GOST RF 12420-81.
