An ornamental exotic plant from the agave family, known under the names: bottle palm, elephant’s leg. The main feature of the bokarnea is a powerful, treelike and thickened trunk at the base in the form of a huge bulb. The overgrown, swollen tissues that form the bulb serve as a kind of reservoir for the accumulation of moisture. The leaves of the bokarnea are narrow, hard, lanceolate. Favorable location – windows facing south or southwest, with sufficient sunlight. Bocarnea is a succulent and does not need a special moisture regime. Watering is of particular importance in caring for a sidecar. In order for the trunk of the nolina to take the shape of a bottle, watering must be ensured, as in natural conditions, i.e. water it only after the soil dries up, but do not fill it. Top dressing is carried out from May to October, once every two weeks, alternating organic and mineral fertilizers. Before sowing, the seeds are soaked in a weak solution of potassium permanganate for two days. For germination of seeds, a mixture consisting of greenhouse or leaf humus, sod land and river sand (1: 1: 1/2) is used. At a soil temperature of 20-30 ° C, seeds germinate for 4-5 weeks. The seeds meet the requirements of international standards and GOST RF 12420-81.
