An annual plant of the Balsamin family, pyramidal, up to 25 cm tall. Heat-loving, shade-tolerant, moisture-loving enough. Stems are fleshy, break easily in knots. The flowers are large, up to 4 cm in diameter, simple or double, camellia-shaped, from white to purple in color. Blooms in June-September. The original fruits, when ripe, “explode” at the slightest touch, scattering seeds over considerable distances. It is damaged even by light frost. Does not tolerate excessive waterlogging. Sown in March-April. Planted in late May – early June, at a distance of 20-30 cm. Grown in flower beds, outdoor pots and containers, hanging baskets or boxes on balconies. Can be grown as a houseplant.
