The leaf is large, pinnately dissected with a serrated edge, grayish-green, strongly pubescent below and lighter, with small spines at the edges. The inflorescence is large, green in color with tightly pressed scales. In the first year, 4-6 inflorescences are formed on each plant, in the second – 10-12 inflorescences. The mass of one inflorescence is 70-120 g. The artichoke is a dietary product and a delicacy. Inflorescences are used for food in fresh, boiled and canned form. The fleshy part of the inflorescences has a delicate flesh and a pleasant taste. Sowing seedlings in February, 40-50 days before sowing, the seeds are soaked and germinated in the warmth. When seedlings appear, they are mixed with wet sand and kept in the refrigerator at a temperature of 1-2 ° C, and then sown in a box with soil for growing seedlings. It is transplanted into the ground usually at the end of May, when the threat of frost has passed. To obtain high-quality plants, fertile soils and care are required: loosening the earth, removing weeds, fertilizing with mineral fertilizers. Artichokes are watered mainly during drought.
