An easy-to-grow perennial with valuable medicinal properties and a pleasant, mint aroma with bittersweet notes. Sprawling bushes, up to 25 cm tall, with numerous small leaves. Small pink-lilac flowers are collected in shortened apical brushes. Use non-lignified parts of shoots in fresh and dried form. Used for flavoring teas, pickles, in cooking. Thyme tea has a sedative, antiseptic and anti-cold effect. The plant is light-loving, drought and frost-resistant, needs light soil without stagnant water. Grown by direct sowing of seeds in open ground in May, in prepared soil, cleared of perennial weeds. Suitable for growing in an ornamental garden. After 4 years, renewal from seed or cuttings is required.
