Basil Opal seeds, 1g. A mid-season purple basil variety with a spicier and more aromatic aroma than other varieties. From germination to the beginning of flowering, 55-60 days pass. The plant is erect, 40-60 cm high, branched. The leaf is rather large, ovoid, with a serrated edge, dark purple with a purple tint. The flowers are bright crimson. All parts of the plant have a strong clove-pepper aroma. The leaves are used fresh for salads, making sauces, decorating dishes, as well as pickling tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, preserving fruits and berries. In dry form, basil is an excellent seasoning for meat, vegetables, and is used in cooking. It is grown by direct sowing in the ground in May or through seedlings at the end of March – beginning of April with a seed placement of 0.5 cm. Seedlings appear on the 7-10th day.
