A climbing plant from the Bindweed family with shoots up to 2 m long. The flowers are funnel-shaped, large (5-6 cm), purple in color. The plant is very thermophilic, light-loving, does not tolerate even slight frosts, prefer loose, nutritious limed soil, on well fertilized “fatty” to the detriment of flowering. Ipomoea requires supports of vertically stretched wires or mesh around which the stems will twine. It is advisable to soak the seeds for a day before sowing. Seedlings appear in 6-14 days. Used to decorate balconies, gazebos, retaining walls and garden structures.
