One of the best varieties of purple basil. It has spicy aromatic and medicinal properties, especially decorative. The period from germination to technical ripeness is 50-70 days. The plant is medium-leafy, up to 40-50 cm high with slightly bubbly velvety leaves, dark purple, almost black in color. Fragrant basil leaves contain a large amount of essential oils that have a disinfecting and diuretic effect, relieves stomach cramps, strengthens the nervous system and promotes better fat digestion. Basil raises the general tone, stimulates digestion. A decoction of the leaves is used for coughing and for rinsing the mouth. Recommended for fresh and dried use as a seasoning (even instead of black pepper), for flavoring dishes in cooking, perfectly awakens the appetite. Productivity 3-4 kg of greens from 1 sq. m. Grown by seedlings or direct sowing in open ground. Seedlings are sown in late March and early April. Sowing in the ground – in May or early June. Planting seedlings in the ground – early June. Basil prefers well-drained, loamy and sandy loam soils. Further care consists in moderate watering, loosening and feeding. The plant is sensitive to cold.
