Tomato Pink hippopotamus is distinguished by a good yield when grown, both in protected greenhouses and in open ground. The bushes are semi-determinate and grow up to 1 – 1.2 m. Plants are limited in their growth, so they do not require pinching the tops. It is only necessary to carefully tie the stems and brushes with fruits. To get the maximum yield, it is recommended to form two-stemmed bushes. All other side shoots, as well as the lower foliage, must be cut off. The shape of the fruit is characterized as flat-round. At the stage of full biological maturation, tomatoes are distinguished by a pink-raspberry color of the peel and fleshy aromatic pulp. The average weight of the Pink Hippopotamus fruit is about 300 – 500 g. The taste is quite sweet, even dessert, which children will really like. For full and careful care of tomatoes, they should be planted on permanent soils no more than three to four bushes per 1 square meter of land. The foliage has a bright rich green color. Sowing seeds in prepared heated soil should be carried out two months before the planned planting of seedlings. This will allow the plants to harden better and maintain the ability to produce a good harvest. The ripening process of the fruits is quite extended, and it is better to store the already harvested crop in a cool place. The growing season lasts 110 – 120 days, so the first tasty fruits can be expected already in the middle of summer. Planting bushes in the ground should be carried out after the termination of spring frosts (including night frosts). When grown in a greenhouse, the bushes grow taller and more spreading, and on open ground the plants are more compact. In the bushes as a rule, 4 – 5 brushes are formed, on each of which 3 – 4 large fruits will gradually ripen. At the same time, the tomatoes of the lower rows ripen larger than the upper ones.
