Radish ‘Rubin’ – a variety of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing. Approved for use throughout the Russian Federation (except for the Northern, Ural and East Siberian regions) in 1947. Recommended for growing in open and protected ground. The size and shape of growth: The rosette of representatives of the ‘Rubin’ variety is semi-spreading, loose, 15–18 cm high, 22–25 cm in diameter, 5–7 leaves. The leaf is green, lyre-shaped, dissected into 2-3 pairs of lateral rounded-oval, downward – triangular lobes. The upper lobe is large, elongated-oval. The petiole is 4–6 cm long, 0.6 cm thick, green, with red anthocyanin pigmentation, almost without pubescence. The leaf blade on both sides has a sparse, rigid, short pubescence. Size, shape and color: A rounded root crop, 3.8–4.2 cm long, 3.2–4.5 cm in diameter, red-crimson color. The surface is smooth. The pulp is white or white-pink, dense, juicy, prone to rapid flabbiness. Root crops are almost completely submerged in the soil. Radish mass 11–28 g. Taste: Root crops have a good and excellent, sweet, slightly pungent taste. Ripening and productivity: Radish ‘Ruby’ refers to varieties of early ripening (early maturing). The period from full sprouting to the onset of technical ripeness is 26–28 days. The variety is characterized by a harmonious return of the harvest.
