Kuruba or banana granadilla or the softest passionflower or the most delicate passionflower or tacho (Passiflora mollissima) is a tree-like liana of the Passionflower family, producing edible fruits. The rarest species of wild alpine passionflower native to Colombia Kuruba is the name of liana up to 6 – 7 m long. The stem is almost cylindrical, covered with yellowish down. Leaves 8 – 10 cm long and 6 – 12 cm wide, three-lobed with small denticles, also covered with down on the outside, yellowish-velvety leaves. The flowers are very attractive, drooping, delicate pink color, 7 – 8 cm in diameter, odorless. The fruit of kuruba is oval or oblong, 5 – 12 cm long and 3 – 4 cm wide, weighing 50 – 150 g, with a thick pale yellow or dark green leathery rind. The fruit looks like a small banana with rounded ends. The inside contains a fragrant orange-brown sweet and sour pulp. A distinctive feature of the fruit is not only beneficial properties, but also the ability to quench thirst.
